Time to buy some stock in popcorn

I don't know about you but I've been pretty disappointed in most of the films released so far this year. Inception was the first truly good movie I've seen all year. Nate wasn't a fan but I thought it was amazing - complex, engaging and beautifully acted. That's a hard combination to find these days, when all Hollywood seems to be doing is remaking old favorites. I don't want a remake of what I loved when I was 12, I want something new and different! Is that so much to ask?

That said, the next two weeks seem jam-packed with movies that I am actually interested in paying $10 to see in the theater. FINALLY! It's not too late to have a big summer hit.

This one came out last week. Although the storyline probably isn't going to be revolutionary, who doesn't like seeing Angelina Jolie play a bada$$? And she did almost all of her own stunts. Gotta admire a lady who's not afraid to get dirty in the name of making a good movie.

The Other Guys has the potential to be hilarious. Maybe not Hangover hilarious, but still pretty good. I'm somewhat skeptical (Will Ferrell has the tendency to go a little overboard, IMHO) but Nate is pumped to see it. I will balk because that's what I'm supposed to do, but secretly I don't mind a bit as long as Mark Wahlberg takes his shirt off at least once.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I like a good action movie every now and then. It doesn't have to be all romance and rainbows in my movie world. Sometimes you just need a good shoot 'em up, and this one looks like it could be pretty amazing. Stallone? Li? Statham? How could it not be good?

Hang with me on this one guys. It is a given that the storyline will be predictable and acting overly dramatic, but OH THE DANCING! Have you seen the previews? To quote Rachel Zoe, I die. I'm all about the dance movies - Dirty Dancing, Save the Last Dance, Center Stage and, of course, the original Step Up, which brought us the handsome and talented Mr. Channing Tatum. The dancing in Step Up 3 looks off the chain. I'm giddy just thinking about it.

So what movies are you looking forward to? Seen anything good lately?

I look forward to the expendables but I have to wonder, when California is so screwed up to begin with, what its citizens think when the governor has time to film a movie?
